Personality and Relationship Development

Psychodynamic therapy offers the possibility of more than just relief from symptoms - it also offers the opportunity to better understand ourselves and how we connect to other people.  Our personality forms the core of how we see ourselves and how others see us, and psychotherapy provides gives us a chance to "pull back the curtain" and expand our knowledge of our sense of self and identity.  While their are some aspects of our personality that we are very familiar with, it is often the parts of ourselves that are outside of our awareness that cause us the most difficulty.  Through the process of reflection and self-exploration we can develop a better grasp on all the different sides of personality and the impact that they are having on our daily lives, particularly in the realm of relationships with friends, family, and coworkers.  This understanding can open the door to changing longstanding patterns in relationships and give us a greater sense of freedom and choice in how we interact with those around us.
